Last Sunday was my perfect Sunday in Edinburgh - why?  Myself and my better half had a lovely day of serenity, sunshine, new tastes and great wine and chips all in one perfect afternoon in Edinburgh.

We started with a sublime stroll through The Royal Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh. They look simply wonderful at this time of year.  My favourite landscape (and there are so many) on this particular day was the Scottish Heath Garden and Native tree trail. So pretty but also informative and the info next to the plants fed my interest in native plants and their many uses, such as for medicinal purposes.

We then walked from the gardens to the Stockbridge Market.  After a lovely loose Earl Grey Tea from Steampunk Coffee we walked round the stalls. So much choice and great quality on offer. Following this we ambled up to sample Stockfest - a week long festival celebrating the village of Stockbridge - its still on (20th - 27th September) if you want to pop by.

We sampled some devine Chocolates from Ocelot Chocolates.  So good we are considering supplying them to our lucky guests!

After picking up some dog biscuits from Gourmet Dog Treats for our pampered pooch we got ingredients for our tea.  Wild mushrooms for our pasta and..... luxurious truffle oil from Bonny Vita.

All this shopping and strolling left us a bit peckish so we popped into The Scran and Scallie for what we consider to be some of the most delicious chips in the city!  Washed down with a cool Picpoul de Pinet for me and a Style of Scotland Beer flight for the husband.  All served with a smile and charm from the friendly waiter.

If only all Sundays were so perfect.
