Often when people enquire about our apartments they are keen to know about the local areas around about where they'll be staying. Knowing that you're a part of a welcoming and open-hearted community, even only very briefly, can be the cherry on top of your beautiful holiday home and our extra services.

The recent opening of Dig-in Bruntsfield, a community owned and run grocery shop, is a great example of the area's community spirit and care. Open 11-7 on weekdays and 10-6 Saturday and stocking a wide range of veggie delights, lucky guests at our Marchmont Main Door and Classic Marchmont Charm apartments are within easy walking distance. Just think how much better your dinner will taste knowing that you avoided those pesky multinationals!

The same community vibe can be felt radiating from the Grove Community Garden. A 10 minute walk from Dig-in and still close to Marchmont Main Door, Classic Marchmont Charm, and also now The City Retreat, the garden aims to be the catalyst in building thriving and welcoming neighbourhoods and revitalising unused land along the way. A wonderful and ambitious project! Now in its second year, the plots are already looking spectacular. With an open session every Wednesday during the Spring and Summer months from around 6 until 7.30, and a number of other open days aside, there's plenty of opportunity to get a wee bit involved. Why not go just to enjoy a little bit of greenery?

Continuing with the green theme, keep your eyes peeled for the urban meadow sites scattered across Edinburgh. Scientists from the university have planted wildflowers in 10 sites across the city to encourage bees and other cheerful pollinators. Look out for cornflowers, poppies, daisies, buttercups, and red campion. As if Edinburgh wasn't already beautiful enough!

Come and stay in one of our beautiful apartments during the spring or summer months to see the best of these wonderful green spaces!
