Christmas Markets
Did you know that between the 20th November and the 4th of January, there’s not one, but three Christmas markets? The Scottish Market will be at St Andrew Square again this year, showcasing the best food and drink we have to offer. The amazing European Market which has graced Edinburgh with its presence for the last 20 years, will stretch from the Mound all the way along to the Scott Monument. For the little ones the Children’s Market which is located in Santa Land is prefect!
Food
Edinburgh’s food scene needs no introduction. Between Michelin starred restaurants and incredible street food vendors, you’re spoiled for choice all year round. With the Christmas Markets and activities going on along Princes Street and at St Andrew Square, comes even more delicious food. Regular offerings are churros, German sausages, burgers – and don’t forget the mulled wine and cider!

From December 15th to January 2nd, Priscilla Queen of the Desert: The Musical will be singing and dancing up a storm at Edinburgh Playhouse. As well as the now world famous Christmas Markets, Edinburgh’s Christmas, run by Underbelly includes ice skating, a big wheel, and the notoriously terrifying Star Flyer! There really is something for everyone. This year, Virgin Money will be bringing the Street of Light to the Royal Mile - it's set to be absolutely beautiful.
New Year’s Celebrations
Edinburgh’s Princes Street party is now world-famous, with our lovely city being rated as one of the best cities in the UK to bring in the New Year. Not only does Princes Street play host to an amazing gathering of revellers from all over the world, we always have amazing musicians helping us bring in the New Year. This year Scotland’s very own and very talented Biffy Clyro, along with the brilliant Idlewild will be providing the soundtrack! If you want to do something different, Abandonman’s Bass Drop Ceilidh at St Andrew’s Square is guaranteed to be awesome!

If you’re looking to go somewhere easy on the eye, you can’t do much better than Edinburgh for a winter vacation.
