One of the most photographed locations in the city is also one of the easiest to find. Victoria Bow is not just great for a few pictures, it is also great for shopping, restaurants and bars. It is a classic spot to visit in the city and not one to be missed if you have the time.

Another wonderful and colourful place to visit at this time of the year is the Royal Botanical Gardens. Escape to another world inside the country’s capital and disappear into the Victorian Style conservatories and greenhouses. If you are one to treat your senses, this is a great place to experience something special.

Leith’s harbour area is unique place to spend time. Edinburgh is very lucky to be right beside the water and so benefits from fresh seafood and great spots to walk around the port. Teuchters Landing is famous with Edinburgh locals for being right beside the water of Leith. Cosy dockside pub providing great food and drinks aplenty. Let the fresh sea air blow away the stress and restore your sense of calm away from the city centre.

A recent “Instagram hot-spot” is Dean Village which boasts some of the most beautiful wee lanes in the city. The mixture of tiny but perfectly formed houses and converted mills and stables feel more like a village than the urban metropolis within which they are set.

South Queensferry is 15 minutes by train from Haymarket and 18 from Waverly and boasts some of the most beautiful views of the Forth Road Bridges possible. In the heart of South Queensferry you can walk along the picturesque roads, enjoy some of the best fish and chips and have a drink right beside the Firth of Forth. This is also a great place to access some of the locations featured heavily in the show Outlander, placed right beside Hopetoun House and Midhope Castle which is the exterior for Lallybroch.
