Every year Scotland celebrates a theme and 2015 is a great theme: The Year of Food & Drink!

Celebrating everything Scotland  has to offer there is an exciting programme with monthly themes as well as events, have a look at upcoming events.

January: Traditional Foods
With Burns Night just around the corner, this month is the perfect excuse to be brave and try some haggis if you haven’t already done so or try an alternative haggis dish- what about Haggis Bon Bons?


February: The Food of Love

The perfect excuse to buy some nice chocolates, have a look at this amazing Chocolate Larder Food Map of Scotland (and Edinburgh)

March: Brewing and Distilling

Why not attend one of the many tastings or just visit a traditional Scottish pub, we love Teuchters in the West End and Cloisters bringing you a variety of local beers.


April: Award Winning Food

Edinburgh has the highest number of Michelin starred restaurants in Scotland as well as numerous highly acclaimed restaurants


May: Whisky Month

What better place to celebrate the national drink than in the capital, there will be lots of events and tastings. Make sure you mark the 16th May in your calendars as it’s World Whisky Day!

June: The Future of Food
A highlight of this month is the Cake Fest Edinburgh on the 21st June (you heard right- an entire event dedicated to cake) in one of Edinburgh’s most beautiful locations: The Royal Botanic Garden.

July: Summer Berries and Fruits

Pick your own fruits, although it’s hard to imagine on such a cold day Scotland produces a lot of fruits and berries- have you already had Cranachan- one of our most traditional and delicious desserts


August: Delicious Dairy

Returning this year bigger and better is the Foodies Festival (7th-9th August) showcasing everything Scotland has to offer with tastings, cooking classes and lots of entertainment!


September: Celebration

This month is all about celebrating where our food comes from, why not go to one of Edinburgh’s Farmers’ Markets to celebrate local produce?


October: Sustainable Shore

Already a huge success in 2014 the Edinburgh Restaurant Festival will be back this October, with amazing special offers- watch this space

November: Hearty and Heartwarming

There’s nothing better when the days are getting shorter and colder than some good old comfort food, from hearty stews to delicious broths (and sticky toffee pudding).


December: Grand Finale

To finish 2015 with a bang, restaurants will be serving delicious menus, which will keep you coming back for more
