In sight of the recent tragedy in Glasgow I thought it would be good to remember the good things in our neighbouring metropolis – and to honour the lives lost this Friday in a small way; our thoughts are with those affected by the accident, and we are remembering there is so much more in Glasgow than sadness.

Glasgow is a short train ride away from Edinburgh and much like Edinburgh is filled with joyous Christmas treats. Naturally the first stop in Glasgow would be the Christmas Continental Market on St. Enoch’s Square, just in front of the St. Enoch shopping centre – easy access to all your Christmas shopping needs. The specialty of the continental market is its eclectic mix – traders from Russia, Finland, Germany, Ecuador and many more are sharing the gourmet delights, traditional treats and specialities and rarities of all kinds. The unusual flair you can add to your Christmas spice! The market is now open until December 23.

Finnieston area in Glasgow has its own little Christmas celebration, the Festive Finnieston, with an evening of late night independent shopping, eating and drinking! This week, on December 5, from 6pm to 9pm – definitely worth to check out!

A great day out for the whole family in the heart of West End of Glasgow, the community of Queen Margaret Drive invites everyone to take part in their annual event and get into the good festive mood! The street Winter Festival will take place on Saturday 30th November and Sunday 1st December between 12 noon and 6pm, with lots of music, artisan gifts and culinary treats from all over the world – an absolute delight!

Looking for something for the kids while you are in Glasgow? Little Ulla’s Christmas Party is exactly that thing for keeping the wee ones entertained either before or after a long day of shopping, sight seeing and Christmas sparkle at the markets! A fun Christmas event featuring a singalong, workshops, a puppet show and lots and lots of Xmas fun!

And to have that unique night out with your best gal pals or group of friends with that quirky sense of adult humour, you would do well booking a night with CinderFella, with cross-dressing, evilness and a ridiculous number of twists, Cinderfella promises another evening of sheer madness, mayhem and naughtiness! Every week on Fridays from December 6 till December 13, in Jumpin Jak’s on Sauchiehall Street at 7pm.
