Midlothian is located just 15 minutes to the south-west of Edinburgh and it is made up of a number of lovely little villages including Dalkeith, Penicuik & Roslin.
So whether you are staying in one of our luxurious holiday homes in Edinburgh or in Midlothian itself, make sure you check out our favourite places to play, eat & drink in the area.
Dalkeith Country Park is a firm favourite for families who live in and around Edinburgh.
Set within 1000 acres of park land it has a huge adventure playground for children young & old!
There are lovely cafes & plenty of walking & bike trails to choose from.
There is also a GoApe set in the grounds for those who like a bit of an adrenaline fueled adventure!
Make sure you drop into the Restoration Yard too for a bite to eat (and to meet Santa!).
Are you looking for something a bit different, or perhaps you’d like to brush up on your skiing skills before the winter season.
Midlothian Ski Centre boasts 3 floodlit dry ski slopes & offers a range of lessons on the slope as well as tubing if skiing or boarding isn't your thing.
Another great place for the kids (& adults!) to burn off some steam is Ryze trampolining park. This is a great option for a rainy day!
If you are looking for something a bit less active then head over to the beautiful Rosslyn Chapel in the town of Roslin.
You may recognise the chapel & grounds from The Da Vinci Code: The chapel was featured in both the book & the film!
Anna our MD recently had a meal at Lucis in Lasswade and came back raving about it!
She loved the ambience of the restaurant as well as the delicious food & drinks. So this one comes highly recommended!
Lavender & Crumbs is the perfect place to visit if you want to sit back and relax with a delicious cake & coffee. The food is truly wonderful!
The Papermill has a good range of vegetarian options. This is a lovely restaurant to go to for a meal out in Lasswade. Look out for the live music evenings too!
All of the villages are easily accessible from Edinburgh city centre by Bus. To find out which bus to take have a look at Lothian Bus Journey Planner.
You can also take the train to Eskbank in Midlothian, find out more on the Borders Railway Line.
